Research Computing: Hardware

Faculty and PhD Students are entitled to accounts on the two research servers at the GBS. Requests should be made to Jenny Gao. All users are expected to have signed the Acceptable Use Policy before accessing the systems.

The two research servers are:

RES4:

  • Server Type – RX4640
  • Operating System – RedHat Linux
  • Four 64bit Itanium II processors
  • 16GB main memory
  • 1GB+ Storage
  • IP: res4.bus.emory.edu

     Supported software

  • SAS
  • Stata

RES3:

  • Server Type - HP DC20E
  • Operating System - HP Tru64bit UNIX
  • Two 64 bit 833(EV6) processors
  • Two gig main memory (Six gig virtual memory)
  • 335 gig Storage
  • IP: res3.bus.emory.edu

There are currently no quotas set on RES3 and RES4 although this may change as the need arises. Contact Ron Harris to talk about file management.

Desktop systems and hardware support for standard configurations are provided though Information Services. Additional hardware may be purchased through individual Faculty Support Accounts.
