I have taught courses ranging from
mergers & acquisitions to organizational behavior to audiences
ranging from executives to undergraduates. However, currently, my
focus is in teaching strategic management (Bus 634) and Industry
& Competitor Analysis (430). the following are materials relevant
for the strategy course.
Basic Resources for Class
- Syllabus for strategic
management (BUS 634)
- Readings on eReserve in the Library.
There are detailed instructions in the syllabus above. However,
briefly to gain access to
eReserve readings:
- Direct your browser to the Library,
- Click <Reserve Desk>,
- Search for "Coff" under instructors,
- Display readings for the strategic management course.
- Print/view the readings as needed.
- Cases are available online from Study.net.
This is an online packet provider that offers Harvard cases cheaply
and efficiently (as far as I can tell). Again, the syllabus has
detailed instructions but the
following is a brief overview:
- Direct your browser to Study.net,
- Register as a student (button on left),
- Press the <new courses> button (left) to add a course,
- Select "Emory" from the list and press the <list
courses> button,
- Find the Strategic management course and follow the instructions
to enroll. Note that when you are prompted for the course
password in this process, enter "Coke" (case sensitive).
On completion, you will have access to all of the course materials.
- Other tools that may be useful. The course
involves significant group work as well as a specific form of
case writeup. The following tools may prove useful.
- Group
Management Toolbox -- How to solve free rider
problems, etc.
- Sample
Executive Briefings -- The Gallo and Monsanto
examples illustrate how to convey a rigorous analysis
concisely.
- Competitor
Intelligence resources at CBI -- check it out!
