Business Writing Center

Our Mission

We recognize that the foundation of successful business in the 21st century is clear, effective communication. We believe that the Goizueta Business Writing Center exists to promote better writing in the business community. To that end, we provide assistance and editing for MBA and BBA students, as well as for PhD students and Goizueta faculty.

About Us

Recognizing the need for excellence in business writing, the English Department's Writing Center of Emory University and the Emory Business School (now the Goizueta Business School) joined forces in 1994 to create the first Business Writing Center (BWC). From a humble start, the BWC now employs several consultants and serves approximately 1,000 students each year. The brainchild of Management Communication professor Dr. Sherron Bienvenu, the BWC draws on the resources of both institutions. The English Department supplies PhD candidates well-versed in the fundamentals of effective written communication and writing pedagogy, while the Business School provides management, budget, and training in all aspects of business writing.

During the regular semester, the BWC operates from sixteen to twenty hours a week at the Business School. Consultants may also be available, by advance arrangement, for appointments after hours, on weekends, during some holidays, and at various times during the summer.
