FINANCIAL AID

Financial Aid for the WEMBA program is handled through the central University's Financial Aid office. The following outlines the steps in receiving aid:

1. For information on how to borrow up to the amount of the program, please go to the Financial Aid website at http://www.emory.edu/FINANCIAL_AID/

2. The first step you need to complete is to fill out the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) form. This can be completed electronically at www.fafsa.ed.gov. There is a form for each academic year so please ensure you are applying for the correct year. They will ask you to indicate what school you are attending - you may choose Emory from a drop down box or you may enter our ID of 001564.

3. All first time borrowers must complete entrance loan counseling which can be done in the Office of the Financial Aid here on campus or completed via the web at www.mapping-your-future.org. This must be completed before you will receive a financial aid award from the University.

4. Once the FAFSA is completed, this application will be automatically sent to Emory's Financial Aid office which will review it and put together the best package for you, beginning with federal then moving to private aid.

5. Once this has been completed, our Financial Aid office will mail you an award letter for the Fall/Spring term. The award letter for the Summer term, still in this academic year and covered by this application process, will arrive later.

6. Students can check the status of their Financial Aid file via our OPUS system (see Billing session for information on how to access OPUS). They can see any required documents that are missing from their file. This is important because a missing document will delay the transmission of the school certification of their loan to the lender.

7. You will need to fill out the FAFSA again for the second academic year to cover the last two terms of the program. FAFSA forms are typically available beginning in December for the following academic year.

If you have questions about Financial Aid, the designated Business School Financial Aid representative is Brenda Hill who can be reached via email at bhill@emory.edu or by calling the main financial aid switchboard at 404-727-6039 and asking for Brenda. Please identify yourself as a WEMBA student so that the most appropriate advice can be given.

Estimated aid, taken directly from your financial aid award letter, is shown as a credit on your OPUS account. When actual aid is credited there may be a slight adjustment to your account balance.
