Bienvenidos!

Welcome to the website for Hispanic Business Association at Goizueta!

The Hispanic and Latin American MBA students of Goizueta founded HBA in 2001 to promote the legacy of the Goizueta name and to help classmates better understand the Hispanic culture and its impact on U.S. business.

FACT: Hispanic purchasing power is predicted to reach $630 billion in 2002.
FACT: Hispanics are projected to represent twenty-five percent of the U.S. population by 2050.

A mix of Latin American, Hispanic U.S., and U.S. non-Hispanic students, the association focuses on professional, academic, and cultural issues.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT:

The association helps Latin American students Americanize their resumes, prepare for interviews in English, and understand unspoken culture and body language involved in doing an interview in the United States. It does the same thing in reverse for U.S. students interviewing for jobs in Latin American countries.
· Participate actively in NSHMBA and Hispanic Chamber of Commerce workshops and career fairs.
· Prepare for and travel as a group to NSHMBA's annual conference.

ACADEMICS:
Make students aware of educational opportunities outside the business school that emphasize current events in Latin America and the impact of Hispanic growth on business in the United States. Introduce special speakers when possible who can enhance education in this regard.

CULTURE:
Through a weekly Spanish Table, convened at different Latin American restaurants, members help non-Spanish speakers develop language skills and understand differences in Hispanic cultures.

RECENT ACHIEVEMENTS:
Goizueta was one of only eight schools out of more than two hundred applicants that were invited to compete in last fall's Kraft Case Competition during the National Society of Hispanic MBAs conference in San Antonio, Texas. Team members were Alexandra Duran '03MBA, Tony Martinez '02 MBA, Santiago Arboleda '03MBA, and Sonia Parra Zuna '02MBA. The team received strong positive acclaim from the judges.
