Join Our
Events
Throughout the
school year, GIC will create opportunities for Goizueta students,
faculty and staff to participate in community service activities.
The GIC program will include major one-day events, smaller events
throughout the school year, and fundraising activities.
September
- Hands
On Atlanta Day (October 2nd)
Goizueta students, faculty and staff will volunteer at Autrey
Mill Nature Preserve in Alpharetta. We will do landscaping work
around the grounds, painting a few facilities on site, and creating
storage spaces.
October
- AIDS
Walk Atlanta (October 17th)
AIDS Walk Atlanta is 3.1 mile walk-a-thon, which raises $1 million
annually to provide desperately needed support and services
to people living with HIV/AIDS in Georgia.
- Coins
for Change (semester long fundraising activity)
We will encourage students to donate their loose change to benefit
the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and the Atlanta Pet
Rescue.
November
- Food
Drive (November 8th-18th)
The Goizueta community will collect and distribute dry foods
to the Atlanta Community Food Bank.
- Thanksgiving
event (November 25th)
GIC will coordinate a group of students to volunteer at a local
soup kitchen, food bank or retirement community. (More details
to follow).
December
- Toy
Drive (November 29th – December 15th)
We will collect toys to distribute to The Stewart Center, local
children services organization.
January/February
- Coat
Drive (TBD)
We will collect coats to distribute to a local shelter or youth
group home.
March
- Goizueta
in the Community Service Day (March 5th)
Goizueta students, faculty and staff will mobilize to further
a tradition of service by reaching out to the Atlanta community
and donating their time to improve the lives of others. We will
participate in a range of activities, including community beautification
and working with children and the elderly. We will invite other
Emory graduate students to participate in this event.
- Emory’s
Lullwater Charity Run
TBD (awaiting details from Volunteer Emory).
April
- Goizueta
Gives (April 8th)
Goizueta Gives is an end-of-the year celebration and fundraising
event. In 2005, the event will be held on Friday, April 8th
at the Miller-Ward House on Emory's campus. There will be dancing,
desserts and spirits for everyone to enjoy - both past and present
students as well as family and friends are all welcome! The
evening will celebrate the many ways in which Goizueta students
have given back to the community throughout the past year. We
will highlight how students have generously given their time
and money, including recognizing the volunteers of the Hands
on Atlanta Day in October, announcing how much food we collected
for the Atlanta Community Food Bank, and reveal how much money
we have raised through Coins for Change and other fundraising
events. Goizueta Gives event will also include a silent auction
during which guests can bid on a wide variety of items such
as autographed Falcons gear, gift certificates to local restaurants,
and possibly Delta plane tickets! All proceeds from the fundraising
event will go to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. We look forward
to celebrating with you in April!
- Food
Drive
The Goizueta community will collect and distribute dry foods
and pet food to a local food bank and to the Atlanta Pet Rescue.
