Basic Security

Setting up Screen Saver passwords can block any user from accesing your desktop. The screen saver will activate after a predetermined number of minutes, and user has to enter a password in order to access the desktop. Thus, screen passwords allow a user to secure the Windows Desktop without turning off the computer.

Procedures to Install a Screen Password:

  • Click Start.
  • Click Settings.
  • Click Control Panel.
  • Click Display.
  • Click the Screen Saver tab.
  • Click the drop-down box arrow, and then choose a Screen Saver.
  • Click the Settings tab.
  • Check the Password Protector box.
  • Fill in Wait X minutes (This is the number of minutes you want the computer to wait before displaying the screen saver.)
